The Board held a work session on September 8 and <br /> discussed a number of changes to the goals, including several suggested <br /> additions from Commissioner Willhoit. Possible followup discussion of <br /> the goals scheduled for the September 20 meeting was postponed to the <br /> Board's October 5 agenda. <br /> The first two possible additions, concerning .a volunteer satisfaction <br /> survey and the County' s computer future, could be researched by staff <br /> and brought back as reports to the Board for deliberation and/or action <br /> at future Commissioners' meetings. The update on the Efland Sewer goal <br /> (sent with the September 20 agenda) addresses the points listed under <br /> Commissioner Willhoit' s third addition. The fourth addition is <br /> included as the last step in Objective 2 under the revised Equitable <br /> School Funding goal (also sent with the September 20 agenda) . <br /> The updates sent with the September 20 agenda are intended to be used <br /> as replacement pages for the set of goals distributed to the Board in <br /> August. They reflect staff 's understanding of the Board' s intent based <br /> upon discussion at the September 8 work session. Goals with <br /> substantive changes are: Economic Development District; Rural Character <br /> Study; Hillsborough Cooperative Planning; Expansion of Efland Sewer <br /> System; and Equitable School Funding. At the Board's request, the <br /> action plan headings for Transportation Planning and Water Resource <br /> Quantity and Quality have been changed to provide clarification. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Depending on time constraints, the Board may wish to <br /> adopt the goals following additional discussion, or postpone formal <br /> adoption pending further review and discussion. <br /> is <br />
