This will be forwarded to <br /> the BOCC at a later date.) <br /> PURPOSE • <br /> To report the final local budgets as approved by the Boards of <br /> Education for each School District . <br /> BACKGROUND <br /> The current expense appropriation for each school district equals <br /> $1,451 per student, or a total of $19, 098, 062 . The appropriation for <br /> recurring capital totaled $1, 696,434 . The Board of Commissioners <br /> requested that the Schools report back once the local funds were <br /> allocated by each Board of Education. Attachment One updates the <br /> worksheet (blue sheet) that was used during budget discussions with the <br /> two School systems last June. <br /> Note that the General Assembly approved a 7 percent across the board <br /> salary increase for teachers paid on the 30-step scale. All other <br /> positions received a 4 percent salary increase to base pay plus a 1 <br /> percent lump sum payment . <br /> The Orange County Schools also increased the local supplement for <br /> tenured teachers from 7 percent to 10 percent . Classified supplements <br /> increased from 4 1/2 percent to 5 1/2 percent and assistant principals <br /> from 5 percent to 6 percent . The local supplement for non-tenured <br /> teachers (less than three years experience) remained at 5 percent . <br /> These increases are effective as of January 1, 1995 and are being <br /> 4 <br />
