Fikes x2490 <br /> Contractor' s Letter <br /> TELEPHONE NUMBER <br /> Hillsborough 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill 968-4501 <br /> Mebane 227-2031 <br /> Durham 688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: To award two housing rehabilitation contracts for the HOME <br /> Housing Rehabilitation Program. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Housing and Community Development Department solicited bids <br /> from qualified housing rehabilitation contractors participating <br /> in the County' s Housing Rehabilitation Program. Sealed bids <br /> were received from participating contractors on Thursday, <br /> September 8, 1994 and opened on the same day. Bid results are <br /> attached. <br /> Present program procedures provide that housing rehabilitation <br /> contracts be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder. <br /> However, the lowest bidder for Dwelling #11 has declined this <br /> job as evidenced by the attached letter, therefore, the second <br /> lowest bidder, Orange Chatham Home Repair is recommended for <br /> contract award. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> The Manager recommends awarding the following two rehabilitation <br /> contracts: <br /> Dwelling Unit Bid Amount Contractor <br /> #11 $ 22,900 Orange-Chatham Home Repair <br /> #16 $ . 8,435 MDH Construction Company <br />
