provided for the ARC staff and assistance is given for their <br /> summer internship program. <br /> OE provides employment and transition services to students. <br /> Students may attend classes at OE instead of school, or OE goes <br /> into the schools to provide employment and job seeking skills. <br /> Vocational evaluation, coaching, and job placement skills are <br /> also provided to students. The agency also coordinates with: <br /> TEACCH, and residential Services, Inc. <br /> Orange-Person-Chatham (OPC) Mental Health <br /> OPC Mental Health is a local governmental unit providing <br /> mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance abuse <br /> services to children and adults in Orange, Person, and Chatham <br /> Counties. <br /> Coordination <br /> OPC works closely with the Department of Social Services and <br /> the Orange County and Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Systems in <br /> coordination of services to children, who are often referred from <br /> DSS and the Schools for services in OPC's Therapeutic Foster Care <br /> Program, the CAT (Child Assessment and Treatment) clinic, and the <br /> Adolescent Day Treatment Program. Further coordination with the <br /> schools is anticipated with Communities in Schools (CIS) and <br /> SMART start programs. A substance abuse education and prevention <br /> specialist has been placed in the Chapel Hill schools in a joint <br /> project wherein OPC funds the position and the Schools provide <br /> logistical support. Carolina Alternatives, and OPC managed care <br /> mental health program, works closely with DSS to ensure that <br /> -35- <br />
