specific responsibilities for the operation of the school health <br /> program. <br /> Adult Health provides services in the home, community, and <br /> clinic to promote and improve the general health and reduce <br /> disability and premature death due to heart disease, cancer, <br /> stroke, diabetes and other chronic health problems of persons in <br /> Orange County aged 18 and over. Services are coordinated with <br /> Home Health Agency, InterFaith Council, JOCCA, Department on <br /> Aging, Cooperative Extension, Library, Social Services, OPC <br /> Mental Health, and Triangle Hospice. <br /> AIDS Counseling and Testing serves individuals throughout <br /> the county and provides education for community groups. This <br /> unit provides information and referrals to the Coalition for <br /> Battered Women, InterFaith Council, DSS, OPC Mental Health, <br /> Planned Parenthood, Rape Crisis, Women's Center, UNC Hospitals, <br /> and both school systems. Classes are provided at the shelter. <br /> Epidemiology provides services related to the prevention of <br /> communicable diseases. A joint program with the Department on <br /> Aging provides vaccines for senior citizens. The Health <br /> Department collaborates with Cooperative Extension and other <br /> community organizations in a coalition to promote preschool <br /> immunizations. Immunization record reviews are completed for the <br /> school systems by the Health Department's school health staff. <br /> Information and referrals are conducted with the above agencies <br /> and Child Care Networks, Day Care Services, and OPC Mental <br /> Health. <br /> -27- <br />
