Services for Adults, Protective Services for Children, Services <br /> for the Blind, and Employment and Training. <br /> Other Services: Christmas Program for low income children, <br /> Summer Camp Project, Work Permits for Adolescents, Transportation <br /> Assistance for Medicaid Recipients, Guardianship Services for <br /> Legally Incompetent Adults, and Protective Payee Services to <br /> manage finances for children and adults unable to manage their <br /> own funds. <br /> Public Assistance Programs include: Aid to Families with <br /> Dependent Children (AFDC) , Food Stamps, Medicaid, Special <br /> Assistance to Adults (subsidy for the cost of rest homes/family <br /> care homes for low-income aged and disabled) , Low Income Energy, <br /> and Emergency Assistance. <br /> Coordination <br /> The Department of Social Services (DSS) coordinates services <br /> with the majority of the human services providers in Orange <br /> County. The following are examples of the department's major <br /> coordination relationships. <br /> The Income Maintenance Division assists residents in meeting <br /> their basic needs, i.e. food, shelter, and clothing. The <br /> Emergency Assistance program coordinates services with the <br /> utility companies serving the residents of Orange County. The <br /> division also coordinates daily with IFC and OCIM to meet the <br /> emergency needs of Orange County residents. <br /> All AFDC cases are referred to Child Support Enforcement for <br /> pursuit of child support payments from the non-custodial parent. <br /> -23- <br />
