Settlement Center for mediation of custody or visitation <br /> problems. <br /> Orange County Commission for Women <br /> The Commission for Women seeks to improve the status of all <br /> Orange County women by advising the County Commissioners, Orange <br /> County Departments, private nonprofit agencies and employers <br /> regarding the needs and concerns of women. The Commission <br /> assists in the implementation of recommendations from the Women's <br /> Symposium, sponsors the Business Women's Roundtable, initiates <br /> task forces to study and make recommendations regarding the needs <br /> of women, provides advocacy through Women's Equality Day and <br /> Women's History Month, and provides information and referrals. <br /> Coordination <br /> Coordination of services is facilitated through task forces <br /> which are organized to study unmet needs of women in Orange <br /> County. The newly formed Emergency Family Support and Shelter <br /> Task Force has representatives from: Orange County <br /> Commissioners, Town of Hillsborough, Carrboro Board of Aldermen, <br /> Chapel Hill Town Council, Department of Social Services, Inter- <br /> Faith Council, OCIM, OPC Mental Health and others. The Violence <br /> and Conflict Resolution Task Force includes: KidSCope, Center <br /> for Peace Education, representatives from both school boards, <br /> Health Department, and DARE. The task forces utilize the <br /> services of existing agencies and organizations for studying <br /> issues and developing recommendations. <br /> -16- <br />
