TAX SUPERVISOR <br /> ATTACHMENT 1 <br /> Definition <br /> Under general direction, to have responsible charge of the assessing <br /> and listing of all real and personal property in the County and <br /> Municipalities for tax purposes; and to do related work as required. <br /> Examples of Duties <br /> Plans , coordinates and supervises the work of a technical and clerical <br /> staff in the assessment of real and personal property and in maintenance <br /> of tax files and records; appoints and trains haters in the methods <br /> of securing complete lists of property to be appraised for tax purposes; <br /> ascertains that all property has been listed at the level of valuation <br /> required by laws, and insures that standards of valuation are applied <br /> uniformly to all property; supervises periodic revaluations through in— <br /> house staff or contractors; designs and develops work program for the <br /> office; studies or supervises the study of office procedures , forms and <br /> equipment to facilitate the work; participates in the development of <br /> geocodes for the cross referencing of property records within the tax <br /> office and officeof the Register of Deeds and Planning; participates in <br /> the application of data processing methods to tax procedures; talks with <br /> taxpayers having difficult or unusual problems; reviews or determines <br /> pertinent facts and explains tax laws and procedures; testifies in court <br /> and before the State Property Tax Commission as a representative of the <br /> County; dictates correspondence; keeps informed on changes in State and <br /> County tax laws, procedures and rulings; serves as Clerk to Board of <br /> Equalization and Review. <br /> Education and Experience: Any combination equivalent to graduation from <br /> college and three years of supervisory or technical experience in the <br /> administration of State and local taxes. Certification or ability to be <br /> certified as a tax supervisor by the State. <br /> Knowledge, and Knowledge of applicable State and County laws <br /> and procedures; knowledge of modern office methods and equipment, including <br /> data processing; knowledge of the principles and practices of organization <br /> and management; ability to plan, organize, coordinate and direct the work <br /> of a technical and clerical staff ability to establish and maintain <br /> effective relationships with taxpayers , other officials , and employees <br />
