Gentry <br /> Tax Account No. 7158 <br /> Ladies and Gentlemen: <br /> The above-named taxpayer is my client, who has asked me to request that <br /> you reconsider his tax bill for 1981 for the reason I shall state below. <br /> Mr. Gentry is now seventy (70) years of age but was 69 when he filed his <br /> taxes early in the year. At that time there was apparently a misunderstanding <br /> about the figures he gave the tax office relating to his disposable income. <br /> He tells me that the entire income for himself and his wife came from two <br /> sources: <br /> $176.40 monthly "army check," and <br /> $232.70 monthly Social Security. <br /> As he and I figure it, Mr. Gentry's total annual income was not even five <br /> thousand dollars. <br /> Whatever the cause of the misunderstanding, it would seem equitable to <br /> give relief to this elderly man by allowing a modification of his tax bill to <br /> show an exclusion pursuant to North Carolina General Statute § 105-277.1. <br /> We ask that you please consider making this adjustment and notify us of <br /> your decision. <br /> Respectfully yours, <br /> Shrrckiond <br /> Lucy D.
