The State has now made its decision. Efective January <br /> 1, 1982, a 5% increase will go into effect for all State employees. In addition, <br /> a one grade reclassification will go into effect for State paid nurses effective <br /> October 1, 1981. Counties may follow this now or implenent it on a mandatory bas <br /> July 1, 1981. Also in addition, the State approved a post retirenent increase <br /> for those on the retired rolls July 1, 1980. Cost of this will be paid in the <br /> usual manner of increasing the rate of contribution. For Counties this will mean <br /> . <br /> an increase in the employer retirement contribution from 7.00% to 7,25%, effective <br /> July 1, 1982. <br /> PACT: <br /> Cost for a corresponding 5% increase for County employees would be $99,420 for <br /> the latter half of the fiscal year. <br /> Cost of the nurse reclassification, if retroactive to October 1, 1981, would be <br /> $6,312.47. <br /> RECOMMZZATION: <br /> 1. Approve following the State action on the across the board in order to <br /> maintain parity between the two pay plans. <br /> 2. Delay instituting the nurse reclassifications to coincide with a buget year <br /> and at such time as when local reclassification needs can also be addressed. <br /> . _ <br /> • 7 - - <br />
