Margaret Lane Hillsborough, N.C. 27278 . . Dear Ms. Barnes: I am writing to you at the suggestion of Mr. Kermit Lloyd in the Tax Office, Chapel Hill. He tells me that I am one of many people in my position who have not received a reply. • I appealed my tax valuation and had an informal hearing in r - Hillsborough on March 31st, 1981 with a Mr. Lynn Rogers. He told me three things: 1). My house would be reinspected as their measurements differed from mine and that I would be told when in order to let the inspector into.areas he had previously guessed. I.ant still zr. waiting. 2). I would be informed of the result of the review and told what courses would then be open to me if I still disagreed. I am still waiting. 3). If my facts ware correct (arid I know they ate!) I had a very good case for a reduction and I would hear by late summer. Yesterday, I received my tax bill - approximately double last years - with no change in the valuation I had contested. I called the Tax Office this morning and Mr. Lloyd told me my only recourse for this year is to appeal to you. This letter represents my appeal. The Tax Office should have My detailed six page appeal I submitted in March - copy attached for reference. I feel I have been overvalued $25,000 - $30,000 in $147,000 based on incomplete and inaccurate data. By copy of this letter I am requesting the Tax Supervisor to supply me a copy of all the data used to reach my assessed value and also to make it available to each of you for comparison. / • Thank you for your attention in this matter. Appealing to you seems to be total overkill to me but I am assured it is the only course open to me at this time. I look forward to your reply. • Sincerely, • David A.
