I would, ,however, like to offer an explana- .
tion for my tardiness.
I wa:: under the impression that in order for me to use the
Value Assessment and Ta.sation of Agricultural, Horticultural,
or Forest Lands (G.S. 105-277.2-.7) for assessing my property
taxes, I would have to be under the Forest Management Plan
pr:,,oared by the North Carolina Department of Natural Resources
oxId Community Development. I've come.to find out that this
Isn't necessarily true but because I have been waiting upon
thelr evaluation of my land. I missed. the deadline.
For some reason my land has been classified, as Residential
w'nich I tend to disagree with. My land, is part of a farm that
was established by my Grandfather back in 1879 and. In my books
it still is a farm. iorty acres of my land are in "Forest
La• fl", with 10 acres of that being in flood, areas. The re-
main,Thr of my land is broken down as follows 1.5 aeres' in
home garden, 4.0 acres in pasture land, and 9.5 acres donated,
to the use of the New Hope Improvement Association, Fire
• oal-tment and Rescue Squad. My family has always partici-
0.■'.-?ift in agricultural programs as well as forestry projects
sw:h es the G.C. camp boys planting pines on our land after
the "Crash of /29", and we continue to do so.
• to the fact that my land, is,and always has been, farm and,
for5.t land and not residential property and due to the fact
tlint I was led to believe that I must wait upon the Forest
anagement Plan before applying for the Value Assessment an
Taxation for Agricultural, Horticultural, or Forest Land; I
l; ' lc like to request that you review the tax evaluation of
77:y 1;And for 1981 and make what ever adjustments you feel led
nake.
Th:::6s you for your time in accepting and processing my letter
or appeal. Once again I apologize for my tardiness and. the
Ins,.:nventence it has caused but hope I will not be penalized.
Sincerely,
?17-
Jr'-1-1 MPri Vi
