768 <br /> (c) VIBRATION LEVELS- <br /> 674 Pe; <br /> As is the case with sound levels, the distance from our <br /> operation to any boundary is sufficient "insulation" from vibrations that <br /> exceed ordinance limitations at that point. Our expert has also advised <br /> us that vibrations from our steady state operation will not be perceptible <br /> at property boundaries. <br /> In order to assure that vibrations from blasting do not <br /> exceed ordinance levels, a variety of blasting techniques are customarily <br /> utilized. Depending on the location of the shot within the pit and depend- <br /> ing on weather conditions, we can vary the number of holes shot, the number <br /> of holes per delay, and the amount of powder per hole. <br /> Frequently we solicit the help and advice of other out- <br /> side explosive experts to guide us in loading and shooting in the safest <br /> man:zer possible, and in a manner likely to restrict the noise and vibrations ' <br /> to the lowest levels possible. All state and federal blasting guidelines <br /> are followed. <br /> 8. Other Miscellaneous Ordinance Requirements (7.8.1.2 C-H). <br /> (a) Surfacing of Permanent Roads. <br /> No roads other than those shown to be paved are present <br /> on the operation site. These roads lead to a yard area. <br /> (b) No extraction will take place within 300 feet of a <br /> building or public lands. <br /> (c) No spoils piles or stockpiles shall be created to a <br /> height greater than 35 feet. <br /> (d) Disturbed land will be kept to a minimum. Because of <br /> the extremely high cost of stripping overburden and because of the high <br /> cost of reclamation, it is in our best interest as well as in the best <br /> interest of the county to restrict the amount of land disturbed to the <br /> minimum necessary for operations. <br /> (e) The Company has already posted a $25,000 reclamation <br /> bond, as is required by the North Carolina Mining Act <br /> The current plans are for the Mining Act to increase <br /> the amount of the bond to $2,000 per acre of land covered by the permit. <br />
