J. 07080 <br /> Chapel Hill Township Account #50405 (1980) <br /> Personal property of this Corporation, leased to North Carolina <br /> Memorial Hospital, was discovered for 1980 at a valuation of $530,300. <br /> The Corporation has objected to this valuation, which presumably <br /> erroneously included valuation of property sold to the Hospital and <br /> thus exempt from taxation, and has supplied us with a selling price of <br /> the leased property of $59,422 (letter of June 25, 1981 from Therma—Tray's <br /> Controller), which selling price the County Attorney has advised (letter <br /> to Bill Laws of June 17, 1981) should be used as the 1980 tax valuation <br /> of this property. <br /> A partial payment in the amount of $3,534.97 was credited to this <br /> account on May 26, 1981. <br /> Recommendation: <br /> Refund $1747.52 (the difference between the $3,534.97 amount paid <br /> en this account and the amount of tax, late list penalty advertising cost, <br /> and interest for late payment which would have been due on May 26, 1981 had <br /> the 1980 valuation been $59,422 ($1787.45)) and release the balance due for <br /> this account as of October, 1981 ($12,845.32); that is, establish a valuation <br /> of $59,422 for this property for 1980. <br /> Order Date <br />
