Wallace
Town of Chapel Hill
306 N. Columbia Street
Chapel Hill , N.C. 27514
Dear Ms. Marshall and Mayor Wallace:
The Carrboro Board of Aldermen, by consensus, has asked me
to convey to you our concerns about additional steps that we may
need to take to protect the watershed . Having agreed to a
moratorium of water and sewer line extensions into the watershed
until the watershed study is completed , we feel : (a) that we
should establish a moratorium on septic systems for major
subdivisions in the watershed, and (b) that we should develop a
policy regarding alternative sewage treatment systems in the
watershed.
We are concerned about protection of the watershed and
especially the possibility of receiving applications for major
developments in the watershed prior to the completion of the
OWASA study. We request that you consider these items as soon as
possible and propose that the intergovernmental work group may be
an appropriate mechanism to address these issues.
Your assistance in this matter will be appreciated.
Sincerel2& 3.
James V.
