With such activity comes the loss of open <br /> space and the rural character of many portions of the County . <br /> Orange County desires to have a study completed which <br /> combines the various elements of watershed protection, <br /> agricultural preservation, natural areas conservation , etc. <br /> into a comprehensive open space plan and presents <br /> recommendations for implementing the plan . <br /> The following sections describe the study objectives, scope <br /> of work to be performed, the information which is to be <br /> included in the written proposal , and the general terms and <br /> conditions which are applicable to the work to be performed . <br /> Place and Time of Which ProposaLs Are to Be Submitted. <br /> Ten ( 10 ) copies of the response to the Request For Proposals <br /> are to be submitted to Orange County , by 5 : 00 p .m. Collins <br /> Planning Director <br /> County of Orange <br /> 306F Revere Road <br /> Hillsborough , North Carolina 27278 <br /> Telephone: 919/732-8181 <br /> Objectives of the Study. <br /> The objectives of the study are to: ( 1 ) establish goals and <br /> objectives for the preservation of open space in Orange <br /> County ; (2) identify existing and proposed open space <br /> resources ; (3 ) identify land areas which, because of their <br /> characteristics, are suited for conservation and/or <br /> development; (4) prepare a plan which incorporates open space <br /> elements as well as lands suited for conservation and/or <br /> development; ( 5 ) identify techniques for the preservation of <br /> open space areas and sensitive lands ; and (6) develop <br /> specific program recommendations for the implementation of <br /> the open space plan . <br /> Scope of Work <br /> The following scope of work outline is offered as one <br /> possible approach for accomplishing the work to be completed. <br /> However, consideration should be given to proposing an <br /> alternative approach to this scope of work . Orange County <br /> will give full consideration to all alternative approaches <br /> presented . <br /> 1 . Identify the location and extent of intensive uses <br /> a.
