November 30 Deadline for receipt of proposals <br /> December 7 Begin consultations with firms <br /> 100 December 21 Recommend contract award to specific firm <br /> January 4 Commissioners award contract <br /> January 5 Work commences <br /> To review proposals and work with the consulting firm in <br /> preparation of the open space plan, an Open Space Technical <br /> Advisory Committee should be established, comprised of <br /> representatives from the agricultural community, the <br /> development sector, the Recreation and Parks Advisory <br /> Council , the Triangle Land Conservancy, OWASA, Duke <br /> University, and the Planning Boards of Orange County, Chapel <br /> Hill , Carrboro, and Hillsborough . <br /> At its October 28, 1987 meeting, the Orange County Planning <br /> Board recommended approval of the proposed Request for <br /> Proposals and the time schedule/methodology for consultant <br /> selection . The Planning Board Chair recommended that the <br /> Advisory Committee include representatives of the University <br /> of North Carolina and other utility companies such as Duke <br /> Power and Piedmont Electric Companies. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends approval of the draft Request <br /> for Proposals and the time schedule/methodology for <br /> selection of a consulting firm as recommended by the <br /> Planning Board . Recommendations for representation on the <br /> Open Space Technical Advisory Committee will be presented at <br /> the November 17, 1987 Commissioners meeting . <br />
