Jef
300 Stony Hill Rd.
Chapel Hill, NC 27514
October 13, 1984 085
Dear Orange County Commissioners :
I only regret that I must be out of town for this very auspicious
occasion. Having tracked this process for the last two I
believe that as our elected officials years, the
present draft of the Joint Land Use us well you, and
congratulations! Thank you, and
I do have a couple of thoughts that I would like you and the
representatives of the cities of Carrboro and Chapel Hill to keep in
mind.
Firstly, I would like to remind all of
compromise. As a citizen of Orange County who oha that this veaw is a
the confines of the city of Carrboro' s "transitional area", within
steadfastly supported the idea of maintaining the rural residential
zoning of our lands in Calvander. It is up to you to continue to
monitor the growth of our neighbor to the south, and to assure us that
the densities set forth in this agreement are upheld. I feel that we
rural residents have given a tremendous amount of
intended) in the negotiations, and I would feel betraye (if pun ed densities allowed within the body of the plan were actually exceeded..
Secondly, I would hope that when the lands in the "transitional areas"
are actually rezoned, that all deed restrictions would be followed in
the zoning of the properties.
And, thirdly, I feel that there is a time when all towns
cities. I believe that it is the duty of the erow inty
Commissioners to monitor the growth of Carrboro and Chapel Hill, and nto
assure the county residents that these burgeoning metropoli are planned
in a manner responsible not only to the city dwellers, but responsible
to the rural residents as well. In order to do this, I believe that
both cities need to begin building up, rather than
to spread. out indefinitel just being allowed
function much more efficiently if Tthisnisaaccomplished the cities will of
I believe that the literature will support me on this idea.
Again, I thank you for your perseverance in continuing to look out for
the interest of Orange County's rural residents. Good Luck!
Sincerely,
4 Jef `'
