ITEMS FOR DECISION - CONSENT AGENDA <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Halkiotis to approve the Consent Agenda as listed below: <br /> 1. FIRE PROTECTION CONTRACT <br /> To approve the Fire Protection Contract with the Eno Fire <br /> District Trustees for the purpose of providing fire protection to the Eno <br /> Fire District and authorize the Chair to sign. <br /> 2 . ACCEPTANCE OF A MATCHING GRANT FROM THE STATE'S LAND RECORDS <br /> MANAGEMENT PROGRAM FOR THE 1987-88 REMAPPING WORKPLAN <br /> To approve an agreement with the State of North Carolina to <br /> receive a matching grant from the Land Records Management Program (NRCD) , <br /> to be used in the remapping project and to authorize the Chair to sign. <br /> 3 . WORKPLAN - HOUSING TASK FORCE RECOMMENDATIONS <br /> To receive for information the workplan of the Management Team <br /> that will analyze and develop implementation options on the Housing Task <br /> Force recommendations. <br /> 4. DUKE FOREST - GREENWAY ACCESS POLICY <br /> To approve a policy statement concerning the County's position <br /> regarding the preservation of the integrity of the Duke Forest properties <br /> when a County greenway abuts and/or adjoins these properties. The policy <br /> is printed below: <br /> POLICY STATEMENT <br /> DUKE FOREST PROPERTIES <br /> It is the policy of the Orange County Board of County Commissioners to <br /> encourage recreation access onto Duke Forest properties via designated <br /> greenways only at roads, fire trails or other points of entry mutually <br /> agreeable between Orange County and Duke University. No site plan and no <br /> subdivision plat of property adjacent to the Duke Forest properties and <br /> showing any portion of the Orange County greenway system (as outlined in <br /> the Orange County Land Use Plan and/or the Orange County Master Recreation <br /> and Park Plan) shall be approved which designates or shows the property as <br /> having recreation access to Duke Forest unless it is via a road, fire <br /> trail or other point of entry approved by Orange County and Duke <br /> University. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS. <br /> G. ITEMS FOR DECISION - REGULAR AGENDA <br /> 1. EMERGENCY SHELTER GRANT APPLICATION <br /> Tara Fikes reported that the purpose of this program is to assist <br /> families and individuals who are homeless primarily due to their economic <br /> circumstances. These grants will be awarded to local governments to help <br /> improve the quality and availability of emergency shelters and services <br /> for the homeless in their communities. <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Halkiotis to approve the submission of an Emergency Shelter Grant appli- <br /> cation and to authorize the Chair to sign. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS. <br />
