079 ORANGE COUNTY PLANNLNG DEPARTMENT <br /> HILLSBOROUGH <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br /> 27278 <br /> PLANNING BOARD SUBCOMMITTEE <br /> °4■110% PROPOSAL 9/30/82 <br /> Review and Recommendation <br /> by Planning Board 10/18/82 <br /> F Adopted by the BOCC 11/1/82 <br /> PROCEDURES FOR AMENDING <br /> THE LAND USE PLAN <br /> PURPOSE <br /> The Orange County Land Use Plan (Plan) was adopted by the Board of <br /> Commissioners on September 2, 1981 . The act of adoption formalized the Plan <br /> text and map as County policy in land use matters. The plan will need to be <br /> amended from time to time to reflect changing conditions in the County. This <br /> document proposes procedures by which the Plan will be amended. <br /> REASONS FOR AMENDMENTS <br /> The plan may be amended for the following reasons: <br /> a) because of changed or changing conditions in a particular area or <br /> areas of the County; <br /> b) to correct an error or omission in the Plan; <br /> c) in response to a change in land use policy. <br /> SOURCES OF AMENDMENTS <br /> Proposed amendments to the Plan may originate from: <br /> a) the Board of Commissioners; <br /> b) the Planning Board; <br /> c) an amendment application made by any person or agency. <br /> CATEGORIES OF AMENDMENTS <br /> Amendments are classified as principal or secondary amendments . <br /> Principal amendments include: <br /> a) additions to or modifications of goals and policies; <br /> b) creation of new activity nodes or additions to existing node areas <br /> exceeding 10 acres; <br />• <br />
