When the <br /> County Commissioner member of the Board ceases to be a County <br /> Commissioner for any reason , his 'or her appointment as a mem- <br /> ber of the Board shall .also cease and the Board of County <br /> Commissioners , during their next meeting, shall appoint another <br /> Commissioner to the Board . All vacancies in the Senior Citizens <br /> Board occurring from any cause shall be filled by appointment <br /> by the County Board o f Commissioners , and the person appointed <br /> shall serve for the unexpired portion of the term. <br /> Members of the Senior Citizens Board shall serve three- <br /> year terms , but no Board member may serve more than two consecu- - <br /> tive three-year terms . In order to establish a uniform <br /> staggered-term structure for the Senior Citizens Board whereby <br /> ''some members ' terms will expire each year, the Board of County <br /> Commissioners shall initially appoint two persons to a -one-year . . <br /> term, three persons to a two-year term and three persons to. a <br /> three-year term. All subsequent appointments for each such <br /> • member or successor shall be for three-year terms . <br /> •The Senior Citizens Board shall adopt By-Laws for the <br /> conduct of its business including the selection of appropriate <br /> officers and the setting iof regularly scheduled meetings_ Senior <br /> Citizens Board meetings shall be held in compliance with the Open <br /> Meetings Law, N.C. Gen. Stat . 5143-318 . 1 et sec <br /> • Senior Citizens Board members shall serve without monetar <br /> compensation . Consistent with general policies of Orange <br /> County , Board members may be reimbursed for travel and subsist-n-e . <br /> -2- <br />
