8 <br /> li <br /> I --There are presently 10 Habitat affiliates serving most of <br /> North Carolina. Habitat officials strongly encourage the <br /> formation of local partnerships to facilitate the <br /> construction of self-help homes for low and moderate <br /> IIincome families. <br /> --The activities proposed (water , sewer , streets) and other <br /> I activities needed to construct housing are eligible CDBG <br /> activities. Additionally material and labor subsidies can <br /> are eligible if implementation is provided by a non-profit <br /> II community based organization. Most of these agencies have <br /> goals similar to those of the Housing and Community <br /> Development Act of 1974. <br /> 1 --The proposed project meets all requirements (eligibility, <br /> 51Y. low/mod benefit ) for local option projects. <br /> I --Many Habitat affliates also purchase homes constructed by <br /> local high school vocational education classes and <br /> relocate them to a Habitat owned site for potential <br /> home ownership . Orange County Habitat recently did this <br /> II acquiring a home built by Chapel Hill vocational education <br /> students and relocating the structure to a lot in the <br /> Chestnut Oaks subdivision in Phase I of development . <br /> II --For Community Revitalization projects involving relocation <br /> activities, Habitat projects provide a logical and useful <br /> relocation resource for CDBG programs. <br /> Studies, Analysis, Reports Generated to Assess the <br /> II Effectiveness and Enhancement of Opportunities for <br /> Enlarging/Duplication of the Project <br /> County of Orange - The County of Orange will provide <br /> technical assistance to both Habitat and InterFaith Council and <br /> prepare status reports to assess the progression and <br /> I effectiveness of the project . The County will also assess the <br /> posssibility of continuing an ongoing partnership with these two <br /> agencies in a local affordable housing program. Results of all <br /> internal studies conducted will be made available to all <br /> IIinterested state and local agencies. <br /> Orange County Habitat - Habitat will provide provide status <br /> II reports to its regional and international office. Additionally, <br /> the agency will report all project happenings in their periodic <br /> newsletter to keep the local community informed of all project <br /> activities. <br /> II <br /> II <br /> II . <br /> I <br />
