043 <br /> NORTH CAROLINA RESOLUTION PETITIONING BOARD OF <br /> TRANSPORTATION TO CLOSE PORTIONS <br /> OF S.R. 1100 and S.R. 1116 TO <br /> PERMIT COMPLETION OF CONSTRUC- <br /> TION AND OPERATION OF CANE <br /> ORANGE COUNTY CREEK RESERVOIR <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County has been informed by the <br /> Orange Water and Sewer Authority (hereafter the Authority) <br /> that in order to serve the best interests of the people of <br /> Orange County, and particularly in order to provide for and <br /> assure a safe and adequate public water supply for present <br /> and future Orange County residents who are and will be served <br /> by the public water supply system operated by the Authority, <br /> the Authority has acquired approximately 745 acres of the <br /> total of 758 acres (98%) necessary for the construction of <br /> the permanent Cane Creek Reservoir in Bingham Township, <br /> Orange County, North Carolina, and expects to acquire the <br /> remaining 13 .3 acres within the near future; and <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County has been informed by the <br /> Authority that the Authority has constructed and is using a <br /> temporary impoundment on a part of the lands acquired for the <br /> Cane Creek Reservoir Project, which temporary impoundment is <br /> presently an integral part of the Authority' s present water <br /> storage and supply system which supplies the existing demand <br /> within its service area in Orange County; and <br /> WHEREAS , Orange County has been informed by the <br /> Authority that the Authority has commenced clearing and <br /> construction activities and has made substantial progress <br /> 1 <br />
