This guide thoroughly <br /> details the selection process. <br /> Steps one and two (Determining Ogranization Needs and Identification of <br /> Critical Skills and Abilities to Meet the Needs) are very important and <br /> should be done in a timely matter. Once the Board has decided on the <br /> critical skills needed, the position vacancy announcement will be prepared <br /> and the recruitment process can begin. The current salary range is $46,872 - <br /> $77,208 (Salary Grade 87) , however it is recommended that the range be <br /> increased to $54,943 - $84,249 (Salary Grade 88) on the new salary schedule. <br /> It is customary to advertise this level position in a manner that provides <br /> the widest possible coverage to attract a quality applicant pool. I <br /> recommend that we advertise as outlined below. <br /> Newspapers/Journals Coverage <br /> *County Lines statewide <br /> *Southern Cities statewide <br /> **ICMA national <br /> **National League of Cities national <br /> Durham Morning Herald area-wide <br /> Raleigh News & Observer NC, VA, SC, D.C. area <br /> Charlotte Observer NC, SC, GA, FLA <br /> Chapel Hills News areawide <br /> News of Orange local <br /> Please note that if the Board wishes coverage in August we do face deadline <br /> dates of no later than August 5th (*) and August 10th (**) respectively. If <br /> we are able to begin advertisement immediately, I recommend that the <br /> established closing date be September 11, 1987.
