036
Synopsis of Comments
Goal 1 - Water Supply
Provide clean and safe water supplies available and adequate to
meet the future needs of the residents of Orange County.
A. General Policies (Draft Policy)
(See Preceding Page)
Environmental Affairs Board
I. The first suggestion is that the justification for and
scope of County-owned water and sewer services be
clarified. Is the County getting into the treatment of
water and sewer? Is the County going to retail these
services? If so, the policy should be explicit on these
matters, and there should be justification for doing so.
Town of Cerrboro
Is the statement of need for further County involvement in
identifying, developing, and managing water supplies an
expression of the County's desire of more control over watershed
protection? Or is the County wanting to become a retailer of
water supply services? Or is the County proposing to take
responsibility for all water supply services on a county-wide
basis? These are very different goals, and it's not clear from
reading the document which the County is intending to pursue.
Sow does this goal relate to those of existing service providers
in Orange County? This should be discussed.
1-A-O
