PAGE I <br /> APPROVED 12/5/88 MINUTES <br /> SPECIAL PUBLIC HEARING <br /> ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> AND <br /> ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING BOARD <br /> OCTOBER 10, 1988 <br /> The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in Joint Session with the <br /> Orange County Planning Board for a Special Public Hearing on October 10, 1988 at <br /> 7:30 p.m. in Superior Courtroom, new County Courthouse, Hillsborough, North <br /> Carolina. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS PRESENT: Acting Chair Moses Carey, Jr. , and <br /> Commissioners Stephen Halkiotis, John Hartwell and Shirley E. Marshall. <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONER ABSENT: Don Willhoit. <br /> PLANNING BOARD MEMBERS PRESENT: Chair Barry Jacobs, Chris Best, Virginia <br /> Boland, Carol Cantrell, Abbie Dickinson, Dan Eddleman, Betty Eidener, Mike <br /> Lewis, Sharlene Pilkey and Steve Yuhasz. and Prince Taylor. <br /> PLANNING BOARD MEMBERS ABSENT: Brenda Swann, y <br /> COUNTY ATTORNEY PRESENT: Geoffrey Gledhill. <br /> STAFF PRESENT: County Manager John M. Link, Jr. , Deputy Clerk to the Board <br /> Kathy Baker, Administrative Assistant Joanna Bradshaw, Planning Director <br /> Marvin Collins, Planners Gene Bell and Mary Scearbo. <br /> A. BOARD COMMENTS <br /> Commissioner John Hartwell informed the Boards and citizens in the audience <br /> that the Town of Mebane is applying for 2.6 million dollars in Federal Funds <br /> to enlarge their wastewater treatment plant. He noted that the category <br /> under which they are applying is for service to rural communities. Since <br /> the County does not have a good provision for sewer service along the <br /> western side of the County, he suggested that perhaps there is now a more <br /> realistic opportunity to move forward in implementing a sewer plan for <br /> Orange County. He asked that Orange County cooperate in any way possible <br /> with Mebane in securing funding and implementing sewer services. <br /> B. AUDIENCE COMMENTS <br /> 1.
