003 <br /> STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA <br /> RESOLUTION DESIGNATING <br /> RURITAN WEEK <br /> COUNTY OF ORANGE <br /> WHEREAS, Ruritan had its humble beginning on May 21, <br /> 1928, by a few leaders in Holland, Virginia; and <br /> WHEREAS, today 60 years later, this organization has <br /> grown to a present membership of over 36, 000 from New York to <br /> Florida and west to California in these United States; and <br /> WHEREAS, the contribution by Ruritan under its motto: <br /> Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service has become one of <br /> the most active organizations in terms of community service, <br /> including co-sponsorship of County Recreation Softball, <br /> sponsorship of a youth baseball league, a horse show and The <br /> Charles Langston Memorial Golf Tournament, all of which <br /> benefit the citizens of the community through scholarships, <br /> contributions and use of facilities; now <br /> THEREFORE, The Orange County Board of Commissioners do <br /> hereby proclaim Sunday, May 15, 1988 as <br /> RURITAN SUNDAY <br /> and the week of May 15-21, 1988 as <br /> RURITAN WEEK <br /> in Orange County and commend this observance to all members. <br /> This the 17th day of May, 1988. <br /> - Orange County Board of Commissioners <br /> SHIRLEY E.
