032 <br /> NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING <br /> ON <br /> PROPOSED REVISIONS TO THE <br /> COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND ZONING ORDINANCE FOR <br /> ORANGE COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA <br /> Pursuant to the requirements of the General Statutes of <br /> North Carolina, Chapter 153A, Sections 240, 323 and 343, and <br /> Article 20, Sections 20. 5 and 20. 6, and Articles 2. 2. 12 and <br /> 2. 2. 13 of the Orange County Zoning Ordinance, notice is <br /> hereby given that a public hearing will be held at the <br /> Carrboro Elementary School on Shelton Street in Carrboro, N. 0 <br /> on Thursday, June 30, 1988, at 7:30 p. m. for the purpose of <br /> giving all interested citizens an opportunity to speak for or <br /> against the following items: <br /> ORANGE COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN <br /> The proposed amendment to the Land Use Element of the <br /> Orange County Comprehensive Plan is as follows: <br /> 1. Amend the Land Use Element of the Orange Count[ <br /> Comprehensive Plan, Section 3. 11-Hingham Township, to <br /> address changing land use and population patterns, and <br /> in response to a five-year update schedule specified at <br /> the time of Plan adoption in 1981. Specific issues to <br /> be addressed include the potential for strip commercial <br /> development along N. C. Highway 54, the increasing <br /> attraction of new rural non-farm development because of <br /> the Township' s accessibility, the protection of water <br /> quality in the Cane Creek Watershed, the preservation of <br /> agriculture as an important economic activity and the <br /> effects of leapfrog development created by the <br /> establishment of the Rural Buffer zoning district <br /> adjacent to Chapel Hill and Carrboro. <br /> ORANGE COUNTY ZONING ATLAS <br /> The proposed amendments to the Orange County Zoning <br /> Atlas are as follows: <br /> 1. Amend the Orange County Zoning Atlas to incorporate a <br /> Zoning Map prepared by the Town of Chapel Hill for the <br /> Transition Area located in the Chapel Hill Joint <br /> Development Area as identified on the Orange County- <br /> Chapel Hill-Carrboro Joint Planning Land Use Plan and in <br /> the Joint Planning Agreement adopted November 2, 1987. <br /> 2. Amend the Orange County Zoning Atlas to incorporate a <br /> Zoning Map prepared by the Town of Carrboro for <br /> Transition Areas I and II located in the Carrboro Joint <br />
