BACKGROUND: On March 1 , 1988, the Board of Commissioners approved the submission of a CDBG Application for the Rencher Street Area. Public Hearings were held on April 4 and May 2, 1988 to re- ceive citizen comments regarding the application before final preparation. The completed CDBG application proposes the following activities: Acquisition, Housing Rehabilitation, Street Improvements, Clearance and Water/Sewer System Improvements. The total project cost is $684, 281 . 00 . However, the State will only contribute $600, 000 to Community Development projects, therefore, an additional $84, 281 . 00 is needed in order to accomplish all proposed activities. NRCD will give priority to applicants who contribute unrestricted revenues from their general fund to support CDBG projects. Therefore, the Housing and Community Development Department requests that the County contribute $84, 281 . 00 to the Rencher Street Project in order to complete all proposed activities and ful- fill the County's local commitment to the project . The application is due on May 20, 1988. RECOMMENDATION(S) : 1 . Approve the CDBG application and authorize the Chair to sign the document on behalf of the Board. 2. Authorize a financial commitment of $84, 281 . 00 to the CDBG project and authorize the Chair to sign a letter of commitment to NRCD on behalf of the Board.
