Fikes <br /> TELEPHONE NUMBER-- 732-8181 <br /> Hillsborough <br /> Chapel Hill - 968-4501 <br /> Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> Durham - 688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: <br /> To receive citizen comment regarding the proposed FY1988 <br /> Community Development Block Grant Application. <br /> BACKGROUND: The North Carolina Department of Natural Resources and <br /> Community Development (NRCD) requires applicants to <br /> conduct a public hearing prior to submission of the <br /> CDBG application to NRCD. The proposed activities are <br /> Acquisition, Public Facilities Improvements, Street <br /> Improvements, Relocation, and Rehabilitation of Private <br /> Properties . A door to door survey was conducted by <br /> Housing and Community Development Staff to determine the <br /> severity of need and to allow residents to express their <br /> housing needs and concerns. The attached summary details <br /> each activity and also provides cost estimates for these <br /> activities . The project boundary is also defined in this <br /> summary. Citizen input at the March 7 , 1988 Commissioners <br /> meeting should be reviewed to determine whether comments <br /> are consistent with the proposed project . After receiving <br /> citizen comments, the final Application will be presented <br /> at the May 17 , 1988 Commissioners meeting. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : Approve proposed project activities in the Rencher <br /> Street Community Development Program. <br />
