March 24, representatives of the N. C. Department of BACKGROUND: On Transportation (NCDOT) met with the Chair of the Commi Manager, County Attorney, Commissioners, County Planning Board Chair, and members of the Planning Department staff to discuss the status of thoroughfare planning for Orange County. As a result of the meeting, Mr. Blake Norwood, Systems Planning Engineer for NCDOT, corresponded with the County Manager on March 28, providing a schedule for development of a Thoroughfare Plan for Orange County. The schedule proposed a coordinated effort on the part of NCDOT and County staff to provide a Preliminary Thoroughfare Plan by July 1. Following local review and comment, the Plan would be finalized and considered for adoption during November. The County Manager requested that the Planing Department reviewtion feasibility of the for the schedule.
