"General contractor" defined; exceptions : For the purpose of this article, any person or firm or corporation who, for a fixed price, commission, fee or wage, undertakes to bid upon or manage, on his own behalf or for any person, firm or corporation that is not licensed as a general contractor pursuant to this article, the construction of any building, highway, public utilities, grading or any improvement or structure where the cost of the undertaking is Thirty Thousand Dollars ( $30,000.00 ) or more, shall be deemed to be a "general contractor" engaged in the business of general contracting in the State of North Carolina . This section shall not apply to any person or firm or corporation who constructs a building on land owned by that person , firm or corporation when such building is intended for use by that person, firm or corpora- tion after completion . AFFIDAVIT I ' hereby declare that I am permit to purchasing a I am the owner and I plan to do the work myself or sub-out various phases of the job, and I am totally responsible for the work performed . I understand that I am required to comply with all North Carolina building codes and that the project is subject to regular inspections and fees. I hereby certify that all supervision of said construction will be performed by myself . I also understand that if I sell this structure before I receive a Certificate of Occupancy from the building inspector, I will be in violation of the State ' s general contracting law and the permit I received will be subject to revocation, and that the North Carolina Licensing Board for general contractors will be notified . in the event that the building inspector shall require corrections to be made, I will assume full responsibility to insure that they are made, and upon completion will call for a reinspection before proceed- ing with the building.
