By October 30 , 1988, the final report of the <br /> educational/incentive campaign in Northern Orange County will <br /> be filed in the Governor 's Highway Safety Program office. <br /> METHOD OF TECHNICAL APPROACH <br /> Start Up Activities <br /> March <br /> * Establish a collaborative relationship between Orange <br /> County Health Department-County Employee Wellness <br /> Program, HEALTH YOURSELF, and the Agriculture <br /> Extension Service, 4-H program, to design the Seat <br /> Belt Program. <br /> * Obtain assurances for training necessary to implement <br /> and run the Northern Orange Seat Belt Program from <br /> the UNC-Highway Safety Research Center. <br /> April <br /> * Conduct a contest among the 4-H clubs for the Seat <br /> Belt Program ' s logo and theme. (Winner announced on <br /> May 6 . ) <br /> * File grant proposal at the Governor ' s Highway Safety <br /> Program Office. <br /> * Identify local merchants in Northern Orange County to <br /> sponsor the Seat Belt Program by providing positive <br /> incentives for seat belt users. <br /> Education and Publicity Development Activities <br /> May <br /> (The educational/publicity campaign will be developed <br /> by the teenage 4-H volunteers and HEALTH YOURSELF <br /> coordinator. ) <br /> * Prepare sponsor posters for merchants and incentive <br /> coupons for program. <br /> * Plan and develop educational/publicity campaign: <br /> payroll envelope stuffers, media campaign in county <br /> employee newsletter and local newspaper, news <br /> releases, and posters for local merchants, county <br /> employee worksite, and community sites. <br /> Education, Publicity, and Program Activities <br /> June <br /> * Training for HEALTH YOURSELF program director and 4-H <br /> Adult and Youth volunteers by the UNC-HSRC for <br /> correct observation and data collection techniques to <br /> be used during campaign by June 24, 1988. <br />
