• <br /> r - <br /> ORANGE COUNTY 034 <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> Action Agen a <br /> Item No. <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT <br /> Meeting Date: April 4, 1988 <br /> SUBJECT: Authorizing Submission of the Title III-B & D Application <br /> under the Older Americans Act <br /> DEPARTMENT: Aging PUBLIC HEARING YES: NO: X <br /> ATTACHMENT(S) : INFORMATION CONTACT: Jerry Passrnore <br /> NONE TELEPHONE NUMBER- <br /> Hillsborough - 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill - 968-4501 <br /> Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> Durham - 688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: To consider authorizing submission of the Title III-E & D Older <br /> Americans Act (social services/senior center operations) <br /> application to Triangle J Council of Governments by the Chair, <br /> County Commissioners, effective July 1, 1988 through June 30, <br /> 1989 for federal/state funds in the amount of $105, 544. <br /> Submission of completed application is due April 12, 1988. <br /> County matching funds would not increase over previous years. <br /> BACKGROUND: This is a yearly continuation application covering the <br /> following services which are a part of the Department on <br /> Aging' s current budget : Transportation, Senior Center <br /> Operations and Case Management. The application will also <br /> include a small amount of special emphasis funds for <br /> respite care ($1, 130) and legal service ($1,500). required <br /> by the revised Older Americans Act. The Dept. on Aging would <br /> continue to emphasize ACCESS SERVICES in order to facilitate <br /> service delivery by a multitude of community organizations. <br /> These DOA services were ranked as high priority according to COG <br /> and local needs assessments. <br /> Due to the late receipt of the application, forms and the <br /> extensive preparation time, the completed application is <br /> not attached to the agenda abstract. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : Approve Application subject to the County Attorney' s <br /> review before April 12, 1988. <br />
