Established in 1752, Orange County Government has mandated for years to provide human services to county residents through its established departments such as Social Services, Health, Housing and Aging. The Department on Aging, who will be the designatec sponsoring unit, functions as an advocate for the interest of older adults, plans and provides services and coordinate programs sensitive to the changing needs. - In 1984-86 the Department on Aging was a successful VISTA sponsor which resulted in the development of the telephone ressurance program , sickroom equipment loan closet, and the OCIM Home Delivered Meals service in northern Orange County. All programs continue to exist and provide assistance through the effort of public and private volunteer sector. • 2.
