One Vista worker would be a <br /> C.A.T. Transportation/Aging Marketing Specialist and the other <br /> a County interdepartmental Outreach Coordinator. A stipend <br /> and living expenses are paid by ACTION. <br /> BACKGROUND: Volunteers in Service to America (VISTA) is a full-time, year- <br /> long volunteer program for individuals over 18 years of age <br /> committed to improving the conditions of the low income com- <br /> munity. One VISTA volunteer would develop a marketing plan <br /> and assist in implementing it for the C.A.T. (Coordinated <br /> Agency Transportation) program and for other senior center <br /> services targeted for low income elderly. The other VISTA <br /> volunteer would develop a community outreach program designed <br /> to identify and assist new low income families with County <br /> public benefit services. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : <br /> Approve submission of VISTA Project Application to ACTION and <br /> authorize Chair to sign. <br />
