County management esta- <br /> blished a volunteer employee smoking committee of smokers and <br /> non-smokers to develop and implement the survey. <br /> At the November 2, 1987 Commissioners meeting, the Board <br /> received the Final Report of the Smoking Survey Committee. <br /> The Board instructed the Smoking Survey Committee to analyze/ <br /> interpret the findings of the Final Report and present recom- <br /> mendations at the beginning of 1988. The committee's recom- <br /> mendation is attached. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : <br /> Manager recommends that the proposed policy be approved with <br /> the following conditions: <br /> (1) Effective Date: September 1, 1988 . <br /> (2) Test period of implementation of one year. <br /> (3) Evaluation of test period to be conducted by joint <br /> Management/Employee Committee. <br /> (4) Report back to County Manager with recommendation as to <br /> any changes in policy. <br /> (5) Manager evaluate the costs as cited in the report <br /> incorporating necessary cost of implementation in 1988-89 <br /> budget. <br />
