ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING DEPARTMENT
306F REVERE ROAD 1.1 1
HILLSBOROUGH, NORTH CAROLINA 27278
September 30 , 1987
George Tate
342 W. Rosemary 5t.
Chapel Hill , NC 27514
Dear Mr . Tate :
This letter ' Is to re-state the County' s position regarding
Junked automobiles stored on your property located on the
east side of old N. C. 86 and referenced by Zoning Atlas as
Chapel Hill Township, Page 20 , Lot 12, zoned RB (Rural
Buffer) . The property currently is being used by Ray Butler
of Butler ' s Garage in Carrboro.
Certified mailings to you and to Mr . Butler on March 27 ,
1987 , informed you of the zoning ordinances in violation
(Article 6, Section 16 .7 ; Article 11 , Section 11 . 8 ; and
Article 22 which defines junked vehicles) . It was explained
that Article 22 was amended on March 5, 1986 and that by
virtue of that amendment you would be allowed until March 5,
1988 to have all junked and wrecked vehicles cleared from the
property and to be in compliance.
Random inspecti ons of the site indicate that some effort was
made to remove a number-- of the vehicles after receipt of the
letter . • However, more recently, additional wrecked vehicles
have been moved back onto the site, and this was specifically
indicated as action in violation of the terms of the original
letter of advisement.
This is to inform you to refrain from placing any Junked or
wrecked vehicles on the above-cited property. Conversely,
you should continue with your original effort to have the
site cleared by March 5, 1988. Failure to do so will place
you in violation. of Orange County Zoning Ordinances and the
case shall be referred to the County Attorney for further
action .
•
