A field inspection on March 7 , 1987 revealed junked
automobiles stored on the property on the east side of Old
NC 86 , north of Eubanks Road zoned Rural Buffer ( RB) .
Certified letters dated March 27 , 1987 were mailed to both
Mr . Tate and Mr. Butler apprising them of violations of the
Zoning Ordinance (Article 6 , Section 16 .7 Storage of Junked
or Wrecked Motor Vehicles) and informing both of the
amortization effect imposed by the ordinance amendment of
March 5 , 1986 . No response was made by either party to this
office, but some removal of autos occurred prior to May 15 ,
1987 . A second complaint was received on May 22, 1987
stating that the moving of Junked cars onto the property had
begun again . Field inspections confirmed this.
On September 30 , 1987 a second mailing of certified letters
to Mr. Tate and Mr . Butler was made, restating the zoning
ordinance violations and establishing a date for compliance
(March 5 , 1988) . No response was made by either party .
RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends initiation of legal
proceedings against both George Tate and Ray Butler .
