Planning Board Chair <br /> At the last Agenda Review meeting. questions arose <br /> regarding the ability of Environmental Health personnel to <br /> denote primary and back-up nitrification fields on <br /> subdivision plats. The issue emerged from a recommendation by <br /> OWASA that the fields be denoted on such plats. Two <br /> subdivisions, Albert Reaves Estates and James Mark Vine. were <br /> withheld from the Commissioners consideration pending the <br /> collection of information related to the issue. <br /> Preliminary information has been obtained and is <br /> provided below. <br /> current Procedures <br /> With regard to preliminary plat approvals. Environmental <br /> Health requires that road centerlines and property corners be <br /> staked in the field as a minimum. Another method used by <br /> surveyors is to lay off a one-acre grid system on the <br /> property. The approximate suitable area required for primary <br /> and back- up fields is then identified. by "pacing" from <br /> centerlines or property corners. for each proposed lot. <br /> Specific designations for each type of field are not denoted. <br /> however. since the location of the house is not known. and <br /> fields may have to be shifted accordingly. The preliminary <br />
