( 100
Lewis A. Cheek , Esquire Page Two February 19 , 1988
5
recommended as part of the approval of Wildwood
Subdivision . The only concern voiced at any time by
the developer involved the alignment of an entrance to
Wildwood with that of Piedmont REA, a matter which was
resolved satisfactorily and with the agreement of all
parties concerned . Thoroughfare improvements have
benefitted the subdivision residents directly, since
turning movements to and from the development are made
with ease and without delaying through traffic . Final-
ly on this point , Orange County has been, consistent in
requiring improvements to thoroughfares resulting from
the need to handle traffic to be generate& by a
. development under consideration.
With respect to managing storm water within
the Wildwood Subdivision , progress has been made and
more needs to be made . In that regard , I think it
would be advisable for representatives of the Wildwood
Subdivision , their engineer , a representative from
Hazen and Sawyer, Marvin Collins , a representative from
the North Carolina Department of Transportation , a
representative of Southern Railway, if possible , and
yourself and myself to meet to find common ground and
c then map a strategy for correcting phe surface water
problems in the Wildwood Subdivisio -. Any other person
or organization with an interest in this likewise
should attend. I am available for this meeting with
reasonable notice . With a copy of this letter, I am
asking Marvin Collins to attempt to coordinate this
meeting.
Q
Lastly, I am advised that Orange County has
no record of applications having been made for building
permits which applications were denied within the
approved sections of Wildwood . This is not to say that
an application has not been made or an attempt to apply
has not occurred . The County' s computerized permit
system is structured to accept applications which can
be approved . If the staff person handling an inquiry
determines that an application cannot be approved , the
person is so advised and no record of the permit
application is recorded . This system has changed so
that records of all applications are made . Whatever
activity there has been with respect to applications
for building permits for the approved sections of
Wildwood, there have been no appeals of the action or
inaction of the Inspections Department in this regard .
Be that as it may , all applications for building
permits for lots within approved sections of Wildwood
will he accepted and processed according to law.
. _. _._- ..__ ",`4TH_'...s9 ewrr:.vwet_r!7.:. ----- --- ---- -e_ .. `+r-• r .. .. -. ...- ,..M.r. .._.+ wr.-......•
