The Department works with business and commercial
concerns by issuing and promoting the Senior Citizen
ID/Discount Card . It works cooperatively with grou
as the recreation departments of the Towns of ChapelsHillh
and Carrboro and of Orange County in the provision and
promotion of leisure activities. It is not anticipated that
this particular effort would involve volunteers other than
their possible assistance with distribution of the brochure.
6. FUTURE ORGANIZATIONAL CHANGES: No changes are
anticipated in agency organization .
SUMMARY STATEMENT: The recently-released "Aging Policy
Plan for North Carolina, " mandated by General Assembly
action , states on page 7, "A major problem is the lack of a
central resource where older people and their families can
turn for help. Many times it is difficult to even find out
what care, services, and opportunities are available. "
Such a central resource exists in this community, and
having funds available to produce the information brochure
described would assist in making that fact known.
