The Town of Chapel Hill--Recreation Department solicited
funding proposals from County departments.
•
•
BACKGROUND: The Department on Aging does not have funds for a profession-
ally designed and produced brochure which promotes the community as a
retirement area and the Department on Aging as a central information source
for retirees. The Town of Chapel Hill has established a special motel tax
fund for information services. Yet, the Chapel Hill-Orange County population
has grown significantly as a result of immigration of retirees from other
parts of the country. Nationally, Money Magazine will be further promoting
Chapel Hill-Orange County as a popular retirement area in a special April .
issue. Again, this will lead to a rise in inquiries. No county funds are
requested for this project . The Department on Aging Information and Referral.
Specialist would oversee the production and distribution of the brochure. -
RECOMMENDATION(S) : Approve funding request for Retirees Community Resources
brochure.
