Department of Natural Resources and Community Development <br /> in February 1988 announced the acceptance of applications for <br /> Community Revitalization projects. The maximum amount a locality <br /> can request is $600,000. The deadline for application is May 20, <br /> 1988. NRCD also requires local governments to conduct two public <br /> hearings before the application is submitted. <br /> In order to meet this deadline, the County must decide on the <br /> submission of an application, select a target area and establish <br /> public hearing dates. In 1987, the County submitted a CDBG <br /> application for the Rencher Street Area which scored only 36 <br /> points below the funding cutoff. County staff propose re- <br /> submission of an application for the Rencher Street Area since <br /> this area still presents the highest magnitude of Community <br /> Development problems. Staff also propose setting April 4, 1988 <br /> and May 2, 1988 as public hearing dates to receive citizen <br /> cent regarding the CDBG application. <br /> RBOOMMENDATION: 1. Adopt a resolution authorizing the filing of a Small Cities <br /> CDBG Application for the Rencher Street Area and authorize <br /> Chair to sign. <br /> 2. Establish April 4+, 1988 and May 2, 1988 as public hearing dates <br /> to receive citizen comment regarding the application. <br />
