COMMENTS/CONCERNS FROM THE CHEEKS <br /> MASTER PARK PLAN MEETING HELD AT <br /> EFLAND-CHEEKS SCHOOL ON <br /> FEBRUARY 10 , 1988 AT 7 :00 P.M. <br /> ATTENDANCE <br /> STAFF: Mary Anne Black <br /> Lynn Hecht <br /> Gene Bell <br /> Emily Crudup <br /> PUBLIC: See attached list (Approximate attendance: 55) <br /> 1) Fear that landowners would be liable for injuries <br /> suffered by users of greenways. <br /> 2) Need for recreational facilities in Efland expressed; <br /> difficult to take children to Hillsborough or Chapel <br /> Hill. Indoor facility for all age groups is needed in area. <br /> 3) Where is money for greenways coming from? and for pools ? <br /> 4) Fear that greenways and trails will create a litter <br /> problem. <br /> 5) Fear that users of greenways would not go around. but <br /> rather through. the property of land owners withholding <br /> land from the greenway system. <br /> 6) Fears expressed that condemnation would be used to <br /> acquire land. <br /> 7) Concerns that greenways would have a negative effect on <br /> wildlife. <br /> 8) Enough recreational trails already exist in Duke Forest <br /> and Eno River State Park. <br /> 9) Dedication/payment-in-lieu provisions in Subdivision <br /> Regulations same as extortion. <br /> 10) Fears that greenways would not be compatible with <br /> livestock farming. <br /> 11) Comments about public not being able to buy copies of <br /> Master Park Plan text and thus become better informed. <br /> Meeting adjourned at 8:00 p.m. <br />
