RECOMMENDED ACTIVITIES: 004 <br /> To inform Citizens about the many services offered and the challenges facing <br /> Orange County Government, we propose the following: <br /> 1. ) Publicize "Orange County Government Week" through articles in area <br /> newspapers. <br /> During the weeks of March 14th - 18th and March 21st - 25th County <br /> Departments-will be featured in area newspapers. <br /> Each Department will host an open house during County Government Week <br /> March 28th - 31st. County Commissioners are encouraged to visit <br /> departments during this week. <br /> 2. ) An audio-visual (VCR tape) will be produced to further enhance citizens <br /> knowledge and understanding of Orange County Government. <br /> Each County department will be featured "in action" and filmed in <br /> different locations throughout the County. <br /> VCR tapes will be available for check-out at libraries, County Manager <br /> Office and points of interest throughout the County. <br /> Boards, Commissions, Agencies and public interest groups (i.e. public <br /> safety, human services, educational) students, community groups and the <br /> general public will have access to these tapes as desired. <br /> 3. ) Realizing that several County Offices have moved and to make the Public <br /> aware of locations, an updated pamphlet on Orange County Government will be <br /> prepared. The following items will be included: <br /> Updated directory of agencies and their locations; an Orange County <br /> Profile; names and description of responsibilities of Commissioners, <br /> County Manager, Assistant County Managers, Department Heads, and <br /> Division Heads. <br /> 4. ) Develop and present a brief orientation of Orange County Government for <br /> members of the many boards, commissions, and task force committees providing <br /> advisory services to the Board of County Commissioners. The orientation session <br /> will be scheduled during County Government Week for those members who wish to <br /> participate. <br /> 5. ) Host a reception honoring volunteers to express appreciation for their <br /> valuable contributions to Orange County. <br /> Present a slide presentation with pre-recorded narrative and background <br /> music highlighting "Orange County Today." (The County is progressing <br /> due to efforts of it's citizens, employees, and volunteers. ) <br />
