Systems Telephone Committee has initiated proceedings <br /> with the North Carolina Utilities Commission in the matter of local area toll free <br /> telephone service. This action is the culmination of a year and a half study <br /> which was initiated at the urging of Orange County residents and elected <br /> officials. The p ocRss entails considerable legal work and these fees are not <br /> included in the COG budget. Therefore, we are seeking financial assistance fYrom <br /> governments and business that stand to benefit from this action. Since legal fees <br /> for such action are beyond those normally budgeted by the C O G, it would be <br /> most helpful if Orange County could assist with same in the amount of $1,000 <br /> (current legal fees have now reached some $8,000). <br /> Sincerely, <br /> Bradley S.
