A signed copy of <br /> book on page 22 <br /> APPOINTMENT OF AGRICULTURE EXTENSION CHAIRMAN seconded by Commissioner <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Carey, <br /> Hartwell to approve the appointment of Fletcher Barber, Jr. to the <br /> position of Agriculture Extension Director effective March 1, 1988 as <br /> recommended by Dr. Clyde Chesney, Agriculture Extension Chairman. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS. <br /> C. MINUTES <br /> Delayed until March 1, 1988. <br /> D. RESOLUTIONS OR PROCLAMATIONS <br /> 1. COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEEK <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Willhoit, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Hartwell to proclaim March 28-31, 1988 as Orange County Government Week <br /> and to endorse the planned and program <br /> enhance citizen knowledge a <br /> The Proclamation is stated below: <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> WHEREAS, Orange County government has served the citizens of the <br /> County since 1752 and we are responsible for a growing number <br /> of services which have direct impact on local citizens; and <br /> WHEREAS, the elected and appointed officials in county government take <br /> great pride in serving the citizens of the County and in <br /> being directly involved in shaping the future; and <br /> WHEREAS, in Orange County the volunteer spirit is still alive and well <br /> and the volunteers serve as our partners in progress; and <br /> WHEREAS, through their volunteer involvement, citizens learn more <br /> about community needs and resources and serve as <br /> communication links to the entire community. proclaim the <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, we the Board of Commissioners do hereby p <br /> week of March 28 through March 31, 1988, as Orange County <br /> Government Week, and reaffirm our support and appreciation nnof <br /> the valuable contributions of volunteers in the County. <br /> Further urge all citizens to become more familiar with county <br /> government. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS. <br /> 2. RESOLUTION - PESTICIDES. <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Hartwell, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Carey to adopt the same resolution as that passed by Chatham County <br /> Commissioners and to endorse the proposal as stated below: <br /> RESOLUTION <br /> WHEREAS an aerial spray incident in Chatham County in June 1982 <br /> continues to cause apprehension among the residents of the Gorgas <br /> Community for their health; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Board is of the opinion that existing safeguards do not <br /> adequately protect the public; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the current state of pesticide regulation and enforcement may <br /> not adequately protect the public health and the natural environment; and, <br />
