Although the new <br /> initiative was not funded, Dispute Settlement Center did <br /> receive a County allocation and Board suggested the Center <br /> request funds for the community penalties program at mid <br /> year. The Dispute Settlement Center requests $1,500. <br /> The program is one which diverts non-violent prison bound <br /> offenders from prison into a program of restitution and <br /> rehabilitation. The state provides 90% of the grant money <br /> with 10% coming from local match. To date, the Community <br /> Penalties Program has received the follow match money in this <br /> judicial district: <br /> $1, 000 Town of Carrboro <br /> 500 Siler City <br /> 500 Chatham County <br /> $2, 000 Total <br /> A representative from the program will present additional <br /> program information. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : <br /> As the Board decides. <br />
