114 r----,7
1.--ii -rtii `- / ?- .
I
r* _f range County Habitat for Humanity, Inc.
P.O. Box 3673 Chapel Hill, NC 27515
Memo to: Emily Crudup, Planning Dept. of Orange County
From: Dr. Joe Buckwalter
Jan. 13, 1988
Re: Policy for well water use at Chestnut Oaks Subdivision
It has been the expressed policy of Habitat that the Chestnut
Oaks- subdivision owners, through the homeowners ' association,
will bear the responsibility for maintaining their wells.
At present, this involves sharing the electricity cost
equally among the user families (currently 3) . The installation
costs of the well is subdivided to each user in the original price.
Our intent is that we will establish community wells for no
more than 15 connections, nor 25 people served by each well,
in the development plan of Chestnut Oaks.
Further, we will recommend through our representatives on
the Homeowners' Association that they institute an escrow
assessment to be set aside for repair and replacement of '
pumps and/or other equipment for the safe maintenance of
these wells.
If you need further clarification, we would be glad to
respond.
cc: Jeff Levine, Bldg.
